Spectacular and Easy Stroll for the Average Walker
Must cross the bridge at least once. It's only a little over a mile (1.1 miles or 1.8 kms). TIPS 1. Start in Brooklyn with thinner crowds--fewer tourists and vendors compared to the Manhattan side especially during the summer. Nearest subway station is High St. A or C train. Enjoy the view as you walk facing the Manhattan skyline. If you're tired when you get to the city, the 4/5/6 Brooklyn Bridge City Hall station is right at the foot of the bridge. 2. Best time to go is the morning as early as you can and before the temperature hits 90degrees in the summer. Sunrise on a clear day is gorgeous and relaxing. No crowds, only a few adorable couples taking photos and rarely that social media influencer with their photo/videographers and props that block the public path. 3. Sunset is also a good time but avoid holidays and summer weekends if you can. Spectacular views of the city skyline. 4. Narrow pedestrian path now safer with the bicycle lane moved to the lower level.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk both ways
My wife and I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, which was fantastic. Such an iconic location. It takes about 20 minutes to walk both ways. There are street vendors on both ends selling tourist type items at very reasonable prices. Much cheaper than the stores. If you are in NYC for a short time and on a budget, I would definitely recommend walking over the Brooklyn Bridge.
