Great memories and experience
It was such a great experience we enjoyed that day. The staff were very friendly and knew their job. It was mostly voluntary workers and they knew their job and enjoyed it very much. It was such well planned and the views were spectacular indeed. Lunch was included and was delicious. We would thoroughly recommend this train experience to anyone who is thinking about it.

Fall color train ride not to be missed!
My husband and I chose the Parlor Car for our train ride. We went from Chama all the way to Antonito. The parlor car is the last car on the train, it is private and has its own restroom. There's also a small platform at the very back of the car, which is the very back of the train, that you can step out onto for pictures or to watch the little speed car following. The speed car looks for any sparks the train might have started and puts them out. During the trip we were served a pastry with fruit along with coffee or juice for breakfast. In the later part of the afternoon we were offered a small snack bag of trail mix. There is also a bar for adult beverages, as well as, complimentary juice, water, coffee is available all day. The scenery was absolutely stunning!! The colors of the Aspen trees were bright yellow to gold to some turning orange. We were so lucky to have a sunny, clear blue sky day, which made the changing colors breath taking. The Parlor Car experience was another good choice for us. No matter which car you ride in, we recommend sitting on the right side of the train, this is the side that gives the best views of most of the particular sites that are pointed out during the trip. Our morning portion of the trip, Verna was our parlor car attendant. She was very attentive, knowledgeable and provided great commentary. Kudos to Verna! Half way point was buffet lunch at Osier. Some earlier reviews indicated lunch here was less then satisfying due to the facility having had a fire and was only able to offer limited lunch. The facility now is rebuilt and our experience was a full buffet with several hot food choices, along with drinks and dessert. After lunch our train trip continued and so did the beautiful scenery. Upon reaching Antonito we then climbed aboard a very nice, clean, comfortable bus for about an hours ride back to Chama.
