    A visual delight
This was one of my favorite places in a week-long trip through VT and NH. You don't need to know anything about the sculptor who lived here to enjoy the site (although that adds another layer of enjoyment). On its own, it is a beautiful location and was carefully laid out so that there is some pleasing view from every spot. Although we were there is late September, the gardens were still lovely. It was also not overcrowded, so we could enjoy sitting on the porches or in the gardens alone for a few minutes.

    Beautiful grounds and well-preserved mansion
We really enjoyed our visit to this place. The gardens are lovely and calming, with their own unique charm. The mansion has much interesting detail. I found the kitchen particularly fascinating, with a binder including detailed info regarding each item. The kitchen stove is beautiful all by itself. There is a collection of his sculpture that is interesting to rummage through. There is a lovely verandah under a grape-vined pergola that was a nice respite from the summer sun. Great collection of horse drawn carriages. Worth the visit. And there is a great covered bridge on the way there with a unique sign.
