Echo Bridge, Massachusetts, United States

Pleasant winter walk
Echo Bridge is one of the best kept secrets in West Suburban Boston. Walking across its Promenade and through the trails of Hemlock Gorge makes the visitor feel transported to an earlier era of clanging water-driven mills in a colonial village by the Charles River. Be sure to visit the echo platform on the Newton side to appreciate from whence this 1876 bridge gets its name.

Lives up to its name
My husband found this stop while we were on a trip to Massachusetts, and we loved it! It was a beautiful, warm early fall morning, and we were there essentially by ourselves. We walked around the entire area around to the other side and crossed the bridge back. We also, walked down to the platform under the bridge, and it became immediately evident where it gets its name. You can just speak in a normal speaking voice and hear it come back to you. This was a really great way to spend a morning.

Best staircase this side of Brookline
If you enjoy stairclimbing, move to the Bay Area. If that is not practical, well, these are 69 very scenic mostly wooden steps. i use the them to practice for climbing events. The bridge is also very scenic by suburban standards, with nice sunsets. And you really can stand under opposite ends of the arch, whisper, and hear each other.
