Most welcoming place in Needham

This tries to be just a toy store, yet it is so much more than just a toy store. There are many things to play with, to keep you busy. There is a climbing wall dead in the middle of the store, which kids can climb freely, while their parents can check out the artwork made by the local artists of the Needham Artists Collective. Although I would like to see a bit more of a selection of products, the store is overall very pretty and brightens up the Needham Center space and community.

    I love this guy's vision
This is an unusual toy store, started by the man who owns the restaurant next door (a well-liked Needham establishment). He is an architect, and "architrave" is an architectural term. The toys are mostly for younger kids, but there are some for older kids. He has a lot of "Plan" brand toys, which is a company that uses natural materials that look like wood. They are quite nice. He also has free coffee, a climbing/play area, local artist corner, items from trips abroad, and a few of the more traditional kid-type toys (stuffed animals, crafts). He is open a lot of hours and for a while had a sign on the door saying "I'm next door (in the restaurant) if you need me." He was working on getting a train that runs around the ceiling. So, overall a one-of-a-kind creative person doing something no one else has done locally (or more generally in the Boston suburbs as far as I can tell). Worth a trip. Wish I knew more younger kids who needed a gift.
