Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, Nebraska, United States

4.5 (1.465 reviews) Spent Ranking #6 in Omaha Bridges

Impressive structure

We had a little time to kill so checked out the Pedestrian Bridge as a potential place to take family in the future. It was beastly hot so not as enjoyable as it could be. The bridge is impressive, even during the daylight. We will try it at night sometime to see the lights. From the bridge we saw an assortment of animal tracks as well as some birds (including the Green Heron). It was a leisurely walk, pausing to take pictures of the grandkids sitting half in Iowa and half in Nebraska. The bridge actually moves and the cables visibly vibrate in the wind. The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Headquarters and Visitor Center, at the base of the bridge in Omaha, is also excellent.

    NIce views, trashy parking.
Enjoyed the walk across the bridge. The views are very nice. We went on a Friday evening before sundown and the parking lot at the National Park Service building was full of people smoking and drinking and blaring loud rap music. Broken glass bottles and trash was everywhere. We were happy to not get a flat tire.

A very nice walk when you need a break from the car.
We were spending too much time in the car driving, and used this 1 km walk from Omaha across the river to Council Bluffs as a nice break. The bridge is beautiful, signage tells about Bob Kerry's desire to have this bridge built, and it is nicely maintained. It was a pleasant walk before driving west in Nebraska.
