Wonderful, peaceful place to relax & chill-out

Hotel sitting area has a nice fireplace. They offer complementary wine and cheese daily at 4 pm, though we missed out on this. Staff members are extremely friendly, professional, attentive and helpful. They gave us an umbrella when we departed as it was raining out. They have free shuttles to ferry, and they have hourly shuttles into town so you can walk around and shop if you want. There are lots of cute bunnies hopping around this relatively quiet and elegant property. Recommend accommodations at cottage 408. Not all cottage rooms have private yards.

    A Lovely Fall Retreat
We just returned from three wonderful days on Nantucket at the Wauwinet. We would like to say that this was one of the loveliest country inns we have ever experienced. We travel quite a bit and this was one of the best!! The setting is breathtaking, the rooms are charming with a seaside/country elegance, the property is maintained to the max (no musty seaside feel) the restaurant is superb (indoor and outdoor dinning venues are both wonderful) and the staff (well, the staff was one of the best trained and elegant group we have ever encountered). This is a place for adults who are looking for rest, relaxation, some seaside oriented activities (sailing, walking, fishing, eco-touring). Just imagine sitting on an expansive lawn in white wicker chaise lounges overlooking the water with a drink and good book. We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary which was noted by every staff member. We felt like we were staying in a private home with an exceptional and gracious host. We will return!! PS: September in Nantucket is wonderful, the crowds are gone and the weather was a #10.

Take the ride out to see this gorgeous part of Nantucket!
We took the Wauwinnet Hotel's jitney out to walk around the property and have a drink. The ride is free, though we gave the nice driver a tip. I"d stayed here before it had it's upscale makeover and it still has an incredible charm and location. Worth a detour to see it and enjoy the view.
