Great beach only about a mile walk from the center of town
We loved Jetties Beach so much we went there twice during our four day stay on Nantucket. About a mile or so walk from the center of town it is easy to pick up something to eat at one of the many town eateries and then head down to Jetties Beach for a leisurely afternoon of relaxing and reading. The surf is not rough at all as the beach is protected and in the second week of September the water was still enjoyable enough to actually fully go into, not nearly as cold as some of the other beaches on Boston’s North Shore we had been to the prior week! There are tons of shells at Jetties, great views and plenty of shoreline to walk and explore; we can easily see why this is one of Nantucket’s most popular beaches.

Perfect Beach for Families
Calm water, playground, Sandbar restaurant, and the best views...no other Nantucket beach has as much to offer as Jetties! We’ve even walked with our pup in our arms out to the sandbar at low tide...so fun!!
