Surprise on local culture and traditions

While spending our day in Nampula, the officer of the museum asked us if we do not want to have a look inside. The museum is offers a very wide view on local culture, language and people.

Nice for a small museum in a quiet town
If you´re not expecting too much, and just in to explore, this place is worth a visit. I was in Nampula on a Sunday and was pleasantly surpriesd to find it open from 14-17h. The descriptions of the items and local culture are simple, you won´t get great insight into the culture, but it was interesting to see the artifacts. As someone who enjoys small local "museums" I throught the entry fee of (100MT) was reasonable, at least for a foreign tourist. The man at the front, Bixé, was quite personable and showed me to the shops in the back. A few of shops in the back were also open on Sunday and the sales people are not at all pushy. If you need a place to explore while passing through Nampula, this is a good place to wander for a little while.

    Could be better
I paid for a guided tour, but my guide just limited herself to read the descriptions, and left me by myself mid-tour. I was able to buy some souvenirs in the back (there´s a little crafts market)
