Mt. Pleasant/Maury Museum of Local History, Tennessee, United States

4.5 (2 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Mount Pleasant Speciality Museums

Great small place to visit

Even during Covid, the people here were very nice. It's a very small museum but also very interesting. There is a collection of animal heads and stuffed animals from Africa. Interesting to see, but so sad someone had to "kill" them. The local exhibits were also very informative and well displayed.

    Great help
We stopped in after lunch not expecting to learn a lot. This is a typical small town museum, but what makes it so special is he gentleman who works there. He offered so much information about different sites we questioned him about and it made our little road trip to Mt. Pleasant even better. So much memorabilia and the upstairs has even more military/war items. Even an authentic civil war flag specific to the area. I noticed so many unique photos on the stairs and was lucky enough to find several of the, still remaining thru the help of our host. No this isn't the Smithsonian so don't expect it to be, but local history preserved at its finest. There isn't an admission, but donations are appreciated. Another thing I noticed was a lift for those having a hard time with stairs.
