Fantastic bird watching
Medicine Lake is great for bird watching, especially waterfowl. It is most easily visited by car. One must be careful to go when the roads are dry since they can be too muddy or even closed due to high water.

Bird Watching at a Great Plains Wildlife Refuge
The Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge provides an opportunity to view a variety of waterfowl and other birds on the lake and in dryland habitats. There are a number of different locations for viewing and several drives that are open at various times during the year. There is also the possibility of seeing deer and occasionally a coyote or fox.
