Danny's Tap, Illinois, United States

4.5 (5 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Monmouth Bars & Clubs

Nice place for lunch.

Went to Danny's for lunch after a morning of Pickleball! Had the Rueben with a salad. Great tasting Sandwich, especially the the tangy sauerkraut. My Pickleball friend had me try a shot of Level Stoke Pecan Whiskey from Canada. Wow! He bought a bottle to take home and next time I'm in town I will be doing the same. I recommend Danny's!

    More than expected
Great food! Above and beyond most bar menu choices. Loved the grilled chicken wrap. Went with a group of 8 and everyone ordered something different. Heard nothing but praise from all 8.

Off the square but not off our radar....
Although we do not live in Monmouth, we are in that town about one time per week. Twice in the past 30 days we have been to Danny's on recommendation from the owners of the business that we patronize. Danny's patrons are an eclectic mixture from video game players to families with small children. Last night I noticed a play area for children with a giant Jenga set! I have been happy with my food on both occasions, as has been my husband. Last time he had an excellently prepared 1/2 lb. burger with a side salad; I had the best chicken pot pie I have ever had. Last night he had the popcorn shrimp special ( I do not know the price) I wanted mac and cheese; it was only offered on the kid's menu, but they put together an adult (huge) portion for me. I really do not know what the price was for that with a side salad. The mac and cheese was excellent; the side salad, just average. I did request decaf coffee which the waitress made fresh...nice touch. Our waitress on the first visit was the owner's daughter ("my mom does all of the baking") The waitress for last night needs to get a little more seasoned ( I personally could never be a waitress..I am too forgetful and would probably be decorating people with hot coffee and spilled chili) Danny's is definitely family friendly with a neighborhood feel. Plan to spend about $25 -$27for two with sodas or coffee and a modest tip. Appetizers are a bit cashy but the Scorpion Shrimp was a tasty explosion of flavor for $6.95 for 4 very big, juicy tiger shrimp. Seating is plentiful and varied; they even have several cushy chairs and a big couch in one of the gathering areas.
