Snorkeling from Beach #1 on Molokai

Two beaches in Molokai are "beach snorkelable," with the other being Dixie Maru on the far southwest side. Murphy Beach (aka Waialua) is great for kids, as it is shallow, probably maximum 3ft out 100 ft and protected especially inside the old rock wall rubble. Almost no fish inside the rock pile. Outside, there are few, so intermediate to advance snorkelers probably not so happy due to fish shortage. However, there are small fragments of colorful coral and the shallow waters make the beach great for kids. There also are some good shade trees to rest beneath. Wheelchair accessibility would only be one of the new rugged terrain wheelchairs or to stay in one of the parking areas, which is doable.

    Pretty little sandy cove
There was no signage so I am assumming that this little white sand beach with good shallow swiming was Waialua beach. The snorkeling was not good as far as I could tell but it was a nice place to hang out.

    Old Time Neighbor Island Experience
Want to stay Old Hawaii? This should fill the bill. Yes, it's a nice beach, but the draw here is the guest houses behind it. I'm a travel writer taking time off to help Molokai fill in the blanks about the many good things to do on island. Akamai people will fly in from Honolulu, rent a car, and stay here. Then read my stuff in this section for the insider take on Molokai. If you respect Molokai Molokai will respect you. Lose the tourist getup, stay off private property, and s-l-o-w d-o-w-n. You should have a great vacation. The guest houses have multiple bedrooms so bring the family. Get your supplies in Kaunakakai. No need to bring most things with you. Most of the dining spots are mom & pops. Eat local and support the economy.
