Halawa Tropical Flower Farm, Hawaii, United States

4.5 (9 reviews) Spent Ranking #8 in Molokai Farms

Beautiful and fun

Had a lot of fun chatting while touring their garden, helping gather orders, and learning about the chocolate making process. The flowers are absolutely stunning! Challenging to find, but worth the adventure. After the church, the dirt road will fork and you need to go straight/left not right. Then you start looking for the grass hut. We ended up coming in the back way b/c we went right now knowing/got to a bridge owned by the ranch/then followed a grass trail to them.

Hike to the falls, smoothies, and flowers
We took the tour to the waterfall and it was absolutely amazing. Dress to cross a river (shoes will get wet). You do need to be able to go over or under fallen trees. There is a beautiful pool of water that you can get in and refresh at the waterfall. The hike is about 2-3 miles each way. When you return to the flower farm, you are treated to smoothies. The owner used to own a smoothie stand in Hana, so they are delicious and refreshing. The flowers are stunning. He also treated us to his homemade dark chocolate. Great day trip with a breathtaking drive to get there!

    Unique experience, real Hawaii
Kalani is such a unique individual and we loved talking to him, hearing about his flower farm and learning about his family’s heritage and the history of Halawa Valley. Kalani leads hikes to Halawa Falls every Sunday. Meet at the Halawa Park (near the picnic structure, not by the beach) at 10am, where he will meet you, give you a quick tour of his beautiful tropical farm (just a quick walk away) and then lead you on the hike to the waterfall. Definitely send him an email via his website ahead of time to be sure that the hike will go ahead as scheduled (occasionally it needs to be canceled for weather). It’s about an hour each way- not too strenuous of a hike, but there are a few tricky spots as you cross a creek. The waterfall is truly spectacular and a must if you are visiting Molokai. We loved swimming in the huge pool beneath the falls and just taking in the beauty of it all. When we returned to Kalani’s farm after the hike, he made us delicious smoothies from fruit he grows on the farm and let us snack on some fresh macadamia nuts he grows. Awesome way to end the hike! Visit Kalani’s website (I believe his company is called Molokai Flowers) for pricing - we found his hike to be a better value than the other company that offers hikes to the falls.
