    A Great Presidential Library
After being closed for almost two years, this Presidential Library has begun the process of reopening. The 30 million dollar renovation has changed the focus from before. Previously, in my opinion, the library's major focus was on the Presidential years of Harry Truman-1945-1952. Now, the focus is on how Harry Truman became the man he was. Telling of his hard beginning on the farm, up to service in World War I, to politics, to the Senate and to being selected as Vice President and then to President. It is a great story. It is also a wonderful story of America as a land of opportunity, that anyone can grow up to become President through hard work and luck. At this time, the Oval Office is not completed and the gift store was not opened. You also need to make reservations in advance. There are restrictions on capacity and when we were there, they were turning away walk up visitors.

    Interesting
We really enjoyed learning more about Harry Truman and his presidency. The museum is well done and flows nicely. We learned that his racist views changed over time and he eventually became somewhat of a civil rights supporter. The quotes about his readiness for the job upon Roosevelt’s death were amusing.
