    Transformative Experience
We had the St Louis Zoo on our itinerary and decided to walk from our hotel (Chase Plaza) through Forest Park. The 40-minute promenade gave us the chance to 1) work off some of the calories gained on our 5,000-mile road trip and 2) sensory-ingest the beauty and tranquility of this urban oasis. Truly striking was the transformation from the big city traffic/noise of Kingshighway to the pure quietude just a block or so away from the road. Another world in the space of about 50 yards! St Louis is lucky to have this geographic gem and we hope the citizens will continue to nurture and support for centuries to come.

Host of a World's Fair and Olympics in the Same Year
Of all the great urban parks in the US, this is the only one created to host an Olympics and World's Fair, in the same year. St. Louis pulled off this rare feat in 1904 in large part due to good civic forethought that created this park well before the city reached it which meant most was raw and undeveloped as St. Louis started the 20th Century. Today the park is a great green asset for a city that totally surrounds it. It has many of the city's amenities like zoo, art museum, history museum, outdoor theater and many pavilions. For these reasons, it is very like you will visit it during any stop in St. Louis. This is a true treasure for any city and a great attraction specifically for St. Louis. This best part is many of these attractions are free.
