Its like going back in time.
Elvis' birthplace - Tupelo, MS is about 1 hour 25 min from Graceland. The small shotgun home is on the original location with his childhood church being relocated to the birth site. The older woman in the home actually played in the home years after the Presleys lost the home. She was full of wonderful insight as to what items were original and the fact that Vernon Presley himself oversaw the placement of the home furniture etc. The presentation in the church was lovely as it put you back in time. Very nice displays and friendly and informative staff. Would highly recommend! We arrived later in the afternoon around 3:00 pm and it was not busy at all. $15.00 each for adults to see and experience everything. Before you arrive, check the hours of operation as some people later in the day were turned away.

    Lots of history!
We stopped here on a road trip from texas to Georgia because my dad is a huge elvis fan! He was before my time but I still enjoyed reading about the history of his life and how he went from being dirt poor to super rich. It truly is an inspirational story! The grounds are open and free to tour including all the statues and the reflection pond. You have to pay to see the museum and to go inside the home where elvis was born. The church was not open to the public but we took pictures of the outside of it. While it was a nice history lesson for me I wish I had skipped the museum and house tour and just walked the grounds. You cannot take pictures inside the museum (which is full of elvis memorabilia) and the small house literally took less than 5 minutes to walk through. So unless you are a die hard elvis fan I would recommend just doing the free stuff and visiting the gift shop (which is quite large). Would I visit again? No....for me this was a one time visit kinda thing.
