Voyageur Tour Boat Grand Tour, Minnesota, United States

Great short boat tour where you see wildlife and an old mine.
This is a great short boat tour of 2.5 hours departing from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center of Voyageurs National Park. The boat has an enclosed lower deck with some open seating at the back of the boat, and a good number of open air seats on the upper deck. There's one stop with about a 1/4 mile walk to see old mining sites, but otherwise you tour Rainy Lake while the ranger explains the history of the park and the area. Our ranger was very informative and engaging. The crew points out known bald eagle nests and beaver lodges. They also try to maneuver to get good photo ops for any loons they encounter. Apparently loons are not present in large numbers on Rainy Lake because of lack of good nesting areas. All in all this was a great tour and a nice introduction to Rainy Lake. And the crew tries to make sure that everyone gets a chance to sit on the upper deck and enjoy the better vantage point if they want to.

To Crowded
The tour was nice. However I feel there are about 10 people too many allowed on the boat. Too crowded. Scenery is beautiful and that offsets the tight fit!
