On the Banks of Plum Creek
Any fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder will want to see the spot she wrote about in her books. There is a marker and monument to the area. There is a private farm that actually lets you view the spot of the dugout home. It is $5 a car and it uses the honor system with a box to put the money in. We were the only people there and it was serene and quiet; you can actually imagine what it was like when the Ingalls family lived there. You will cross a small bridge over Plum Creek and walk around to the dugout site which is clearly marked and roped off. It is thrilling for any Little House fans.

Life as it was
A nice, quiet spot to see where Laura Ingalls wrote her books or wrote her books about. Nothing is really there, a bunch of markers that will mean nothing unless you're familiar with the stories. The price is per car and is on the honor system. While at first a bit disappointing, one must realize that this place, aside from a few well placed signs, is the same as when the Ingalls lived there. No supermarkets, cars, wi-fi, no modern conveniences whatsoever. I, for one, think it was a good call.
