North Shore Scenic Cruises

We took the cruise to Split Rock Lighthouse. Crew was very friendly and gave a lot of information on the fishing industry on the shores of Lake Superior along with other history of the lake. The view of Split Rock Lighthouse was nice and the crew offered to take your picture with the lighthouse in the background. The weather was sunny and warm and just a bit windy. Definitely worth the money for this tour!

    Great Scenic Cruise
We took the boat on a Monday afternoon and it was a perfect trip. Monday is a low volume day there were only 27 passenger. The captain gave a nice commentary on the view. We had a great view of Split Rock Lighthouse and the ride around the taconite plant with a 10004 ship coming in was awesome! I would recommend this trip for anyone on the north shore. BEST trip for the money you will ever find.

15-20 degrees colder on sunny day
$25 for almost 2.5 hours is a great value. First come first serve, cash or check (atm inside the building). Captain opens the ticket gate 20 minutes before. Call the day of sailing for cancellation (weather is unpredictable). The wenonah boat used to ferry across from grand portage to isle royale national park. For 230 sailing in the dead of summer, one still needs a sweatshirt or windbreaker jacket. One can sit indoors. There's so much to learn about lake superior.....history of the iron ore industry, origins of 3M, geological formations (old rocks, sea caves, cliffs, no real beaches), weather, water depths. The tour started in the marina of silver bay, moved 10mph towards palisade head, the mouth of baptism river, shovel point and a another peninsula after, and very close by the iron ore stockpiles. Palisade to shovel point span tettegouche state park. Hardly any tourists on either area, so photo shoots of palisade and shovel point were excellent. If you have visited lake superior, do take the tours of apostle islands (bayfield, Wisconsin) and pictured rocks (munising, Michigan).....both national seashore parks. Minnesota could boost tettegouche state park to national "status". Worth it.
