Great Lakes Maritime history

We almost didn't find it. Followed the road to a parking lot for condos but looked ahead there is a slight curve to the left then right. Small parking lot with half designated for lighthouse and the other half for beach. Non-flush restrooms on site near parking lot. Admission $5.00. Due to pandemic limit number of people indoor and mask required at all times. While we waiting for our time, we walked around the grounds and to the breakwater. Lighthouse has a wealth of information to read and artifacts to see.

Lighthouse that was open and very informative
Very pleasant lady meet me and had a conversation with me. I wish I got her name. I forget to do that. This light house is Whitehall river and if you walk down the concrete sidewalk you will be seeing Lake Michigan. We saw the building they use to get oil from to run the lighthouse from 1902. Next to it was “Keepers Workshop” from 1887. Inside the Workshop they played a movie about the lighthouse plus inside was artifacts. Then went into the lighthouse where there was gift shop and more artifacts. This lighthouse only has 44 steps to walk up. Half way up I found it interesting that they had a room to the side with more artifacts and information. Wonder if that was where the innkeeper slept. Plus I was surprised they had a uniform to wear.

    Worthwhile
Small museum but nice. Short video explains things. Fee to go up lighthouse. Car parking at museum only. RV and bus parking a short distance from museum on right before you turn on road to museum. That is because of the narrow road and small parking lot.
