Great location to spend the day!
Took two of my boys with me to check the area out I've read about it and see the sign every time I go to Mio. Wow it is beautiful several beaver ponds and marshes to explore and look for wildlife. We saw several different woodpeckers and saw a couple muskrats. The main lake really surprised me also it's a big lake I can't wait to drag the canoe back and explore the lake. The maps on the trails were exelent had no problems, actually 11 yr old did the map reading and decided which trails we would take. So was real proud how well read the map and together used their compasses to make sure we were going right direction. At the campground the bathroom was super clean and had nice bearproof trash cans. The campsite were dry and grassy, newer picnic tables and fire pits. I have hammocks and the sites had plenty treees for hanging hammocks so looking forward to camping. For trail runners nice wide solid trails a few sandy areas but not many we passed a few runner the day we hike it. Now that we live in grayling area I'll be using these trail a lot really enjoyed it.

Wish it was how it used to be.
20th year going to wakeley to camp and fish. The big bluegills are non existent and the bass and pike are small. The bass look like they don't have a good food source as they are very skinny. Lake used to be a big fish factory. Not sure lake is being managed correctly or of people are poaching fish. Its catch and release people. It is also a lake you don't go to party, it is a quiet place.
