The Felt Mansion

The Felt Mansion was the summer home of millionaire Dorr Felt and his wife, Agnes Felt. Dorr purchased 750 acres of prime Lake Michigan coastal land in 1919. Construction began on the 17,000 square foot Felt Mansion in 1925 and the family moved into the mansion in 1928. Over the years, the family moved out, and the building and grounds were used for other purposes. During this time, the estate fell into disrepair. In 2002 a local effort was initiated to return the state to its former glory. Today, the estate is a look into the life of a very wealthy 1920’s family. Visiting the Felt Mansion, adjoining grounds, and Lake Michigan is a must see experience if you are in the Saugatuck/Holland area. Step back in time
It was $15 and my 12 year old was free! It was well worth the $. Check the schedule if you have limited days to sightsee. The house (bathrooms are so cool) has been frozen in time, litterally the walls were sealed to cloistered nuns some years ago. When the rehab began, they found beautiful interrior that no one knew was there. I wanted to return my other child, but we ran out of time. We will definitely go next year!

    Gorgeous Estate
The grounds of the estate are beautiful! We couldn't go inside but took some time exploring the grounds. There are a few signs where you can learn about the history of the estate. We came around Christmas and the house was decorated beautifully! If you're already in Saugatuck it's worth a stop.
