Loved it!!

We rode the Cupid car (these were the cheap seats $65.00) and loved it! Lydia and Ainson provided great entertainment. Games were played and singing of Christmas songs. We enjoyed cocoa riding out and back. It was obvious how much they both loved their job. In Ashley we enjoyed the magic show, visiting with Santa. We found the food very affordable, just look around a little bit. All the volunteers were amazing. Just a great Christmas outing!

Wonderful Family Outing - North Pole Express
What a wonderful holiday family event the North Pole Express is. We all look forward the this outing each year. The grand kids are so excited for the train ride with hot cocoa. The Village of Ashley, while small has fun activities for the young ones. Crafts to build and games to play. There is good selection of food and a warm community center to warm up while you eat. Games and surprises await on the the train ride back. Again, the kids really enjoyed it. Bundle up as it can get quiet cold, especially on the night excursion. And don't forgot to snap a family photo in front of the train. Thank you to the Steam Railroad Institute and the Village of Ashley for putting on such a wonderful family holiday outing.

If you want to see a large famous steam locomotive operating, come here!
If you can't bear the idea of being exposed to temperatures below 50° F, and couldn't care less if your "train" was steam, diesel, or a track-less tractor pulling farm wagons, then stay away from this place. However, if you're like me, and appreciate that this place not just a large operating steam engine, but: -The largest operating steam locomotive in Michigan -The inspiration behind the Polar Express Then please, go to this place! They also have several other excursions too; #1225 (the Polar Express engine) usually runs at least one or two excursions outside the North Pole Expresses, and they usually have a tank engine on loan that runs trips throughout the Summer, and sometimes beyond. (At the time of writing, they have #126 "Sadie.") I highly recommend this place.
