    Fabulous beers, atmosphere and staff!
I struggled as to whether or not to keep Sanctuary a secret. But...because I believe in what they do and want them to be a success, I promised myself I'd leave a glowing review here. I am a beer geek--I travel all over Michigan to beer events on a regular basis. When I read a review in the Michigan Beer Guide of Sanctuary, I knew I had to stop in. The building is an old church, and the tasting room is in what used to be the nave. On my recent visit they had 13 beers on tap! Each brewed on a small homebrew-style system. I sampled several and all were solid, to style, clean and carbonated as expected. My favorites were the Mocha Stout and the Raspberry Saison. Erik, the brewer chatted with us for quite some time about his brewing experiences. Karl, one of the partners, chatted with us as well while taking orders and mixing drinks. The space is large and has several seating options. They do not serve food, but are "food friendly" in that you can bring in food from other businesses to enjoy with your beverage. They have plans to open a beergarten in the summer in a grassy area just outside the main building. I can't wait to see what they do next!

    Great beer and booze!
The building was a church so the barroom is big and wide open. You can sit at the bar, tables or couches. They make great beer and spirits! The bartenders are always exceedingly friendly. If you are hungry, visit the taco truck outside, bring it back inside and enjoy. It's a comfortable place to visit with friends and have a few drinks and relax.
