Relaxing

We took the 2hr trip. Staff was great. They offer a 2,3,4hr trip, definitely do the 3hr trip next time. Very relaxing and beautiful. Plenty of places to pull over and let the kids swim and just relax.

    Beautiful River, Enjoyable Trip
We rented a canoe with a shuttle ride on this Wild and Scenic River. The service was superb from River Run, they made the trip easy for us. You leave your vehicle at the takeout point on the river, and River Run takes you to your starting point and sets your canoe out for you. The river flows free and naturally through a beautiful riparian landscape. We saw mink in the river in two different places. Since we started earlier in the day, we did not see anyone else on the river for the first half of the trip. We will definitely go canoeing with River Run Canoe Livery next time we are in the area

    River Rafting/Tubing near Ludington, MI
We spend lots of time in Ludington and were looking for a rafting trip. We found River Run Canoe Livery in nearby Scottville. It is a super quick trip over from Ludington. The staff was super nice and accommodating. Even the driver of the van that took us up river went out of his way to be friendly. I like that they deliver the rafts/tubes/kayaks right down to the water. I have gone on other trips where we had to hike with all our gear and heavy coolers to get to the water. We were delivered right to the water! All the equipment is super clean and in good order. I would have given this a 5 star rating except for the river. The Pere Marquette River is not as clear as other Northern Michigan rivers. It had been recently treated for some sort of invasive fish so maybe that is why it was so "dirty" looking???? The other problem was that I had read reviews that said the river was very slow and easy and I felt that we had to keep a vigilant eye out as there were lots of downed trees and sharp pointed branches. Put it another way, you can not just float down a lazy river here. You will need to steer and navigate around downed trees. It was very beautiful and quiet. I would say your best bet is kayaking or be prepared to actually work and paddle your raft, not a lot of just float time.
