I was on a drive in Southwest Michigan to see the fall color and I stumbled across Rawson's King Mill Park. I saw the brown county park sign while going down M-60/66 and turned off to see what it was like. I'll always check out any place that has a mill since they make great photo opportunities. Rawson's turned out to be amazing! There is a small parking area across from the mill. The mill itself was not open to go into (probably covid closed, but did not check). A creek called Nottawa Creek flows past the mill. There is a dam/waterfall that was built to divert water to the mill and it makes a great backdrop to the gazebo on a little island in the creek. There is also a small waterfall to the left of the damn and another where the water exits the mill. There are three bridges that allow access to and from the different islands and an area that allows you to walk along the slow moving creek. I happened to be there at peak fall color and the whole place was ablaze in yellow/orange/red. The mill has been restored and makes an excellent backdrop for photos. There were no less than 5 families out with photographers getting fall pictures taken. It's a small park, but it is amazing. Not only is this park worth a stop, it's worth the 75 minute drive it took to visit it. That's how good the colors and photo ops are.
