Mountain Home Cemetery, Michigan, United States
4.5 (16 reviews) Spent Ranking #16 in Kalamazoo County Cemeteries
"Well maintained"
The old cemetery sits on the side of the hill. The markers are huge, and they all survived the tornado. No "ghost stories" here, that I know of!

AJ Foyt's long-time sponsor buried here
When Kalamazoo was hit by a tornado in 1980, Mountain Home Cemetery lost over 100 trees. It is still a beautiful spot. At the west end of the cemetery is the Jewish section where Edward Israel is buried. He was on the ill-fated Greely expedition to the Arctic that left in 1881; his body was not returned until 1884. Other notables include Jim Gilmore, long-ago sponsor of AJ Foyt and his wife, Diana. Until Jim died, Diana's stone would have two finish line flags flying on Indy 500 (Memorial Day) weekend.

Very Historic Cemeter
I visited after a snow, so things weren't very easy to find or visible. The there are many great old monuments. Many politicians there. Go after the snow melts to you can see all the markers.
