Mission Point Lighthouse, Michigan, United States

Wonderful place

We were there on a hot July day. The lighthouse was closed to visitors due to Covid, but we were able to wander around the outside and enjoy the views of the lake. We happened to have our swimsuits with us and hopped in the lake to cool off, there weren't too many people, and it was a great place to relax and cool off.

Nice Lighthouse With a Beautiful View
Spent an afternoon at the Mission Point Lighthouse in July. Sweet little Lighthouse. The beach is wonderful. They even had a swing... a super cool experience for me. Love swinging. I was amazed at how far out you could walk into the water along the shore.

Nice end to a scenic drive
Beautifully restored lighthouse at the end of the scenic old Mission Peninsula drive (M-37). Been here several times before but this is the first time in about ten years. Most recent update is the larger parking lot about a two minute walk from the lighthouse that can handle most crowds instead of the small parking lot directly behind the lighthouse. Lighthouse interior appears to be closed for the summer due to Covid. Not a huge deal because the light tower isn’t that high up and the view isn’t significantly better than what you get from the ground. Grounds are open and there are port a potties available. Easy path down to the beach from the front of the lighthouse with a set of stairs but the beach has gotten significantly smaller due to high lake levels. Nice view of the western side of Grand Traverse Bay.
