Nice drive to see the lighthouse
Mission Point Lighthouse has been a Traverse City and Old Mission Peninsula icon for decades. Located at the north end of a picturesque drive along M-37 through cherry orchards and vineyards, Mission Point Lighthouse stands as a classic piece of Michigan history. While it no longer guides mariners through West Grand Traverse Bay as it did from September 10, 1870 until it was decommissioned in 1933, Mission Point Lighthouse now offers visitors a peek into what life was like around the turn of the century for lighthouse keepers and for others who lived and worked in the area at the time. Self-guided tours of the lighthouse museum for daily visitors in May-October, and weekends in November.

Nice beach and very pretty
This is worth the drive. The beach is small but very nice and never seems crowded. It is so pretty. The water is very shallow so you can wade out a long way into the lake. Bring your water shoes so you don't hurt yourself on the rocks.

A Look at Some Michigan History
Worth a visit to see this old lighthouse and take a stroll/hike along the beach or in the surrounding woods. The lighthouse was closed for entry when we stopped, but we were still able to learn of its history due to the several signs around the property. After our visit we did about a 3 mile trek through the woods and shore on one of the several trails available. Very much worth a visit.
