Nice monument and informational stop
This was a nice informational stop on our River Road Scenic Byway drive. Besides the Monument itself, there were plaques that explained the history of the logging industry. There was a visitor center that was closed when we went (in March).

Great side trip
Been driving by this for years. Finally stopped today. Well should have stopped years ago ! Great views of the AuSable River as well as interesting history of the loggers that worked this area for many years. Definitely a place to check out.

On the River Road
This is one of the "must do" activities on The River Road. There's a large parking area & picnic tables. Hiking trails to wonderful views. The statue of the lumbermen. They have outside displays as well. Before covid, a nice gift shop. The employees have thought outside the box & have taken the gift shop outside. You can look at the goods & tell the employees what you want. The restrooms are open. They set up an outdoor theater with social distancing about the history of the lumbermen in Michigan. We enjoyed our visit!
