My husband and I were in Livingston for one night on our travels around Lake Michigan. This is an unusual looking lighthouse that is well worth the visit. I can’t swim so it made me a bit nervous walking the concrete pier out into the lake, but I am really glad that I did it. We climbed to the top. It was a cloudy day so we couldn’t see very well but the guide at the top was very nice and informative.

it is not often that you get to take a 2,400 foot walk out into a great lake, so that walk by itself is a unique experience. While the climbing of the LH seems to be suspended during the pandemic, the walk out is quite enjoyable. Consider wearing shoes that you do not mind getting wet. With the elevated level of Lake Michigan it does not take much for the top of the waves to roll over the pier on a windy day as we found out. Parking is free and there are public restrooms nearby. Sadly we have not had the chance to watch the sunset here, no doubt it would be spectacular.

WOW another GREAT Michigan beach
2 Sept 21 - Headed over to the beach at Ludington at the North end of town. We had seen this beach from the ship on our previous crossings, but never took the time to stop and “smell the roses”. We found it a real treat this time, with us walking out onto the raised breakwater to the lighthouse at the end. Found the water extreeeeeeeeemly clear and the fishermen going out GREATELY outnumbered the volume we have seen going out of Two Rivers and Manitowoc. The GREAT coast guard / nautical museum is an easy walk 2 block south.
