Great urban trail that surrounds you with art, architecture, and history!!
Visiting downtown Battle Creek for the history and art and architecture, we made our way to the river and walked a mile of Linear Park, enjoying being by the water, the greenery, the colorful murals, the sculptures, and the surrounding buildings. We sat on a bench for a little while, watching dogwalkers, families biking together, friends walking together, an engaged couple taking photos! Highlights include the Kellogg House Park is a highlight with both the prairie-style Kellogg House and the Underground Railroad Monument by Ed Dwight and adjacent gardens and river view; the Michigan Central Station railroad depot (now Clara's on the River), and the downtown skyline. Happy to see a George Rickey sculpture on the terrace behind the Kellogg's World Headquarters.

Gorgeous sculpture of heroic bravery
The Underground Railroad sculpture is absolutely incredible in detail and beauty. It humanizes the heartbreaking struggle of slaves and the braveness of both the slaves and those who helped them escape bondage.

Awesome Linear Park!
The Battle Creek Linear park is an awesome system of paved biking/hiking trails that wind their way all around the area. It passes through some surprisingly serene and secluded landscapes, and connects with many parks and other trail systems like the Calhoun County Trailway and the Kalamazoo trail system to the west. Many people would be surprised at how nice it is!
