    Jordan River vs Boyne River
I've lived in Boyne City my whole life and have kayaked both the Jordan and Boyne Rivers. The Boyne River is more for beginners where the Jordan River is for more experienced/adventurous. The Jordan River does have a section between drop/pick up points that is easy in my opinion. Though the easiest is after Rogers Rd to into East Jordan. The river just lazily flows, you might even see the Bald Eagles that nest in the marsh area. The rest of the river offers varying levels of difficulty but no white water. I like doing the whole river from Graves Crossing into East Jordan. It's an all day trip. The Boyne has a few obstacles, I don't recommend rafting or tubing due to one area where you have to slip through about a 4 foot opening beside a small island in the middle of the river. There is a large tree growing sideways on the other side of the island where the branches block the river. It has a few small rapids that are fun to traverse. To give you an idea of how it would be to go down this river with young kids, my dad use to take his dog with him in the kayak and made it just fine. She was a medium size dog and liked to go side to side when ever she saw something, like a squirrel. I would recommend both rivers to anyone.

Great natural river for the experienced!
This is an amazing river to go down if you enjoy the adventure of canoeing or kayaking! It is left natural so you get the full experience of maneuvering trees and logs and rocks that obstruct your path. It's a very chilly river so tubing isn't for the faint of heart but worth it if your a northerner or not fazed by cold water. There are a few different lengths of river where you can put in and take out and gauge how long you want to be on the river. Elderly people and children can definitely do the river but need to understand what it is they are getting into. It's definitely more difficult then most rivers people are used to downstate but for the people who run the Jordan valley outfitters it's not unlike any other river up north so they don't see it as difficult. Be aware there are a few areas to get out on land and relax along the way but pulling off in non populated areas are subject to poison ivy!!! Overall great!! Have fun!
