Marvelous Islamic Architecture in United States

In November 2015 I went to Michigan to visit the beautiful architectural design of Islamic Center of America in Dearborn. The masjid have big parking area, main prayer hall, other community halls, library bookshop inside.

As spectacular on the inside as on the outside, very friendly
As a non-Arab I have marveled at this beautiful building forever in both amazement and curiosity. I have heard so many favorable comments about the Muslim religion in this country that I finally decided to visit, and am happy that I did. The security is slightly daunting, but inside I explained myself and was offered a walk-around tour by a mosque member and it was fascinating! The prayer room was spectacular and very welcoming but there are also many educational and meeting facilities inside as well and a small museum about the history of this mosque and its major benefactor too. I learned that Friday Prayer is open to all and was invited to attend and use the chairs that are available rather than kneeling like most do. So I attended a service and was fascinated and moved by being able to participate in such a peaceful and culturally different service. The visit confirmed the best of what I have heard about the Muslim community and am happy I decided to visit. Thank you ICOA for your hospitality.

Beautiful gem in the heart of Dearborn
The Islamic Center of America, located just off of Ford Road, between sever churches, on a street that is known to locals as Altar Road in of the City of Dearborn, MI; the home town of Henry Ford is, amongst the largest Mosques in North America. This beautiful structure with an enormous dome nestled between two towering minarets is where thousands of faithful Muslims come to worship in its awe inspiring majestic prayer hall (masjid) that is adorned by Quranic scripture throughout the interior walls of the masjid. Group tours of the facility are permitted here, however it's best to call ahead to inquire about scheduling such tours. The Islamic Center of America has a rich history within the Detroit Metropolitan area, and has been a fabric of the community since 1963. It's original location was in the City of Detroit, located on Joy Road, just off of Greenfield Road. The Center predominately serves the Detroit Metropolitan areas Shii'te (Shia) Muslim population, however welcomes all who wish to worship inside the confines of its walls. Along with Friday (Jumah) prayer service, Sunday lecture service in Arabic and English, the center also has a private school, an Islamic Book store, and offers Islamic counseling services, funeral services, and holds a massive community banquet hall. This magnificent place of worship also caters to the English speaking youth of the community with Friday night lecture series held by the center youth group the Young Muslim Association (YMA) See Center website at www.icofa.com for a list of activities, and more information about planning your visit.
