Huron Valley Rail Trail, Michigan, United States

Prayerful serenity
Quiet and serene place to enjoy a nice walk or bike ride. Some areas need resurfacing but it’s a beautiful trail with benches spaced out if you need to rest. The areas with heavy tree cover lowers ambient temperature a few degrees if very hot out. Critters occasionally crossing the path or a turtle sunning itself and if timed right, occasionally a deer will join you.

Pleasant gentle 10.5 mile ride
Extending along the former Grand Trunk Railroad , this 10.5 mile paved dedicated cycle route goes from South Lyon under the I-96 to connect to other trails. Alongside water and woods in part there are lots of wildlife to see. Mostly flat, but care is needed when crossing dirt and main roads.

Trail review
I use this trail often to get from my home to South Lyon, Kensington Metropark or Island Lake Rec area by bicycle. The scenery is very nice, though the trail is in need of repairs. It is still navigable but the bumps, holes, and divots make it hard to truly enjoy. At some point it will need a total repaving.
