    Educational Fun for Kids
Visiting this hands-on museum with my family is such fun! Where else can you find a life-sized, WET!, and accurate representation of the water cycle through all of its phases? At the water table, kids don vinyl aprons and redirect the "river's" flow. The water cycle re-enactment takes up a good quarter of the museum, with a sun to evaporate the kids up a ladder into a steamy cloud, and out as precipitation down a curly blue slide. Many other cool things get the kids' attention, but if yours are like mine they'll go back again and again to the water cycle demo--and recall with accuracy and enthusiasm all the steps a full year after visiting! As a science teacher who took a year to work with Groundwater Education in Michigan, and the mother of four, I give the Great Lakes Children's Museum an A+!

    Indoor Play Area
I was a tad disappointed. I enjoy taking my children to age appropriate museums for them to take in and learn from. However, this is a small indoor play area (slide, tunnel, dress up, ship). I was expecting more. As we had been to several major city children's museums and they had much more to do and see. We went on a Wednesday, which was Toddler Time. (Under age: 2 there is no entry fee.) there was many young ones there for story time and crafts. I felt a bit out of place as my youngest is entering Kindergarten. We had purchased a Groupon for $3 admission, normally it is $6 per person. My oldest, age 8 was bored. My other two children (under age 6) seemed to enjoy the water table and lighthouse area. Several hands-on displays but I felt my children may have been too old to enjoy. We only spent 45 minutes checking out the museum. Not much for my children to do. I was hoping for more.
