Grand Haven State Park, Michigan, United States

4.5 (542 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Ottawa County State Parks

Beautiful Beach!

I was trying to find a place to review the city beach specifically, but I can not, so I will leave my review here. We, like so many others, skipped the State Park, and drove just a minute down, and visited Grand Haven City Beach. There was plenty of parking and the beach was full, but not crowded. The beach is literally a few steps from the parking area. Aside from the frigid water, you would think you were in Florida. It was beautiful. The beach was really clean and a great place to spend a few hours. We were ready for a beach vacation and a six-hour drive sounded a lot more appealing than a fourteen-hour drive, so Michigan it was! We packed our cooler and some towels and camped out. We did get in the water a couple of times, but only briefly. We absolutely loved our trip to Grand Haven overall, so we will definitely keep it in mind for future trips!

    Beautiful Nature
The park has a phenomenal view for campers in vehicles or tents right on the water overlooking Lake Michigan. Restrooms were very clean and park was well kept. The scenery was very pretty especially seeing all of the leaves changing.

    A day with my brother..
I was so looking forward to parking at the state park beach parking lot, to easily walk over to the beach. Very disappointed that the whole state park had locked gates. I can understand the campground. But the beach was locked up tight, and bathrooms closed. There was a few street parking spots. A beautiful blue sky day until late afternoon, then turning gray and moody. But it certainly lift your spirits seeing our beautiful Lake Michigan, late fall blue skies, sun, and sandy beaches. Brings back a lot of memories.
