Lantern Lit Winter Hike for a Newbie

We saw an article about this event and decided to give it a shot. It was a chilly Friday night (25 degrees), but spirits were high. It's a bit off the beaten path. Once you exit Rt. 94. You feel like you are a bit lost in the woods. We arrived and found a pretty significant group of hikers and nature lovers. Everyone was really laid back, easy going, friendly and engaging. For a newbie like me, this was a pretty cool event. There was a ranger of sorts explaining the event. Good event

Good nature center - something for everyone
Good park facilities, including a learning center, washrooms, knowledgable staff. Good hiking options . . . at least four trails. Youth circuit for the young ones, too. It has a pavilion for picnicking, too. Something for everyone.

Good Place to Learn About Outdoors
This Discovery Center is a good activity for the whole family. It is appropriate for people of all ages. Children will like the opportunities to feel and touch. Adults will probably like the movie about how the Waterloo Recreation area was created. Plenty of hiking trails leaving from the parking lot.
