Great place to start exploring region

Had never heard of Dowagiac before 2017. One of our first stops when looking to buy was the museum. Wonderful hosts. Very interesting history. SOLD!

A Dowagiac Area Treasure!
Whether you are visiting the area or live here, you really have to visit the Dowagiac Area History Museum. A lot of fascinating exhibits in the well-maintained building. Welcoming and informed staff and Director that make you feel right at home. The exhibits change, so you will want to come back!

Pleasantly surprised
This museum is very welled laid out. This is a small town but it has a larger feel to it. The person working the exhibit is a retired teacher and principal. He was helpful in laying out the museum as well as giving us information on questions we had. You get the local history of the area and it was a modern facility. We really enjoyed our time there. I am not saying you are going to drive miles out of your way just for the museum but if you are in the area or near it is worth a stop. It is next to a high speed railway and you can feel it when the amtrak comes flying through it was really cool.
