Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum deserves a mention on its own
Located on the southeast corner of East Cross Street and River Street, at the east end of Ypsilanti, Michigan's Depot Town district, the museum is located in one of the last Hudson car dealers, and is an interesting site on its own. The Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum tells the story of the companies that once were part of the automotive lore of the area: Apex Motors, Hudson, Hydromatic Transmissions, Kaiser Frazer, Tucker and the famous (infamous) Chevrolet Corvair. The more than 30 authentic cars that represent these companies are only part of the exhibits as every corner and scrap of wall surface is filled with artwork, displays, memorabilia and photographs. One of the "movie" Tuckers is also on display, as the only examples of this historic marque, are extremely rare and found only in museums and other private collections. A small room devoted to the Willow Run factory as well as a gift shop are also found at the museum. An interesting and unique museum, not to be missed if you are interested in automotive history.

Depot Town is a great place to eat and go to events!
First of all, there are 2 very good places to eat! Aubrey's and Sidetrack/Frenchy's. They are across the street from each other on Cross st. next to the railroad tracks. The Sidetrack has highly rated food, especially the burgers. There are a few antique and oddity shops, and an Ice Cream Shop on Cross St. and a great natural food co-op store on River St. One (large) block north, on Forest St., there is the Corner Brewery. It has great local brews and now offers their own food menu. The one unique thing about Depot Town is that there are many many local events centered in this area. Depot Town during the summer has "Bike Night" on Tuesdays, Car shows every Thursday evening. Also, there is the Classic Auto Museum just across the tracks to the East. Some of the Big events are The Ypsilant Heritage Festival in August. Michigan Summer Beer Festival in July. Elvis Fest in June. The Color Run in June, and many themed car shows like; all VW's. The "Orphan" car show (rare one-of-a-kind cars and trucks), just to name a few. All the large events are held in Riverside Park right in Depot town. Some of these events attract thousands, and tens of thousands of people on day or a weekend. Some of the events require admission. So, Depot Town is the place where you go in Ypsilant!
