    Excellent Winery!
Chateau Chantal offers excellent Michigan wines in a fantastic setting. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon with visitors lined up outside for tastings. Chatting with an employee, we were taken inside to another area where we purchased the Tastings of 3 two ounce tastings. Prices were $12.50 for the three but dropped to $10 with of the 3 sampling’s. . Tastings were Preserve Chardonnay, Preserve Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Late Harvest Riesling. Each were very good. Their huge outdoor patio is spacious, has some covered and uncovered tables with fantastic views of the vineyards. The Chateau also has accommodations (bed and breakfast). Friends with us had visited previously and said the wine pairing dinner and accommodations are excellent. In the evenings the owner often visits with the overnight guests. They even had a corn hole game - which was fun. Be prepared on weekends in summer it is busy. When we left there were several wine tour buses that had just arrived.

I forgot to buy a can of wine on the way out!
Making advance reservations here was kind of confusing. We had to book and prepay for the equivalent of 4 persons, even though there are only two of us. The extra money would be applied to more wine. I wanted to secure a spot inside just in case the weather was bad, so I followed the instructions and prepaid. Upon arrival, the host told us we could get a refund for the extra cost, and that was easily done. Seating here was actually outside in a covered patio, and that was fine for the weather today. Although the sun is now hiding behind some clouds, it's not too chilly. We sampled two of the wines, which I'd rate as okay. I was happy to see that small dogs were allowed here. The grounds of the estate are beautiful. There is an inn onsite. I'm thinking it's a beautiful spot for an event. There was a table set up with thermometers, but no one was taking temperatures today. The staff is all protected with masks, and so are we. I was surprised to see Chantel Wines in a can. I understand this is the newest trend in wine. I forgot to buy a can on the way out!
