    Concerns relieved
After reading a previous review I was very concerned about the masking policy being enforced. I emailed the boat company and they assured me they were doing their best. I was nervous about this but signs posted everywhere. Was announced I. Loud speaker and I served a crew member telling a passenger to mask. Plenty of room to social distance and lots of fresh air moving. Relaxing ride once I got a seat away from people.

Sure, take the ferry, but do you know they give tours of the island??....
This boat company provides the ferry service to Beaver Island. It was a delightful and smooth trip over (2 hours) to the island and back to Charlevoix. The ferry is clean, and offers a variety of seating. Indoor, reclining seats. Benches outside. Picnic tables or booths semi-inside, or totally inside. Vending machines. Clean bathrooms. $25 adult fare one way. Variety of departure and arrival times. Everyone seemed very nice. You can put your car, bike, kayak, luggage on the boat. Various fares for these items. But they also offer two tours of the island-by A/C bus. One is 90 minutes, and one is 3 hours. We took the 3 hour tour. They point out all the historical and ecological areas of the island, tell some humorous and true (and maybe not so true..lol) stories of island life, and you get two stops on this tour. One is at Iron Ore Bay and it is a beautiful beach. Next, right up the road, is the Beaver Island Lighthouse, which you can tour and climb to the top (50 steps or so). No charge. Bathrooms available at the beach stop. They will give you some bottles of cold water at this point, too, if you are interested. Our tour guide (Shamus..?) was very good, humorous, very knowledgable. The bus is comfortable and has large windows for viewing. A good idea is to take this tour, and then either drive your own car or rent one on the island and go back to some of the points that interest you, so you can spend more time there, if desired. This is what we did. Tour fare was $35 for the 3 hour tour. If you buy a combination round trip ferry ticket and tour ticket, you save $5.
