Lake Huron Beaches !!

We were traveling up north and wanted to visit the beaches of Lake Huron, and we were not disappointed. We stopped in at Bay City, MI and took in one of the beaches at Bay City Rec Area. Wonderful beach to walk and take friends to take in some sea shells and have lunch. Plenty of places to take the kids as well.

Yes, there are beaches in Michigan
In the middle of visiting our grandson (and his parents, of course) in Brighton, one of our trips was to Bay City to hang out on the beach. It turned into a great day. The water is shallow for quite awhile, giving even the youngest kids the chance to get wet and play. There was a decent crowd but we never felt crowded and everyone was respectful and friendly. They have shelter areas available for rent for family get-togethers, as well as a splash park for kids to play.

The good beach is further north!
By the time I got to town it was getting cloudy with rain coming and the lake looked scary. This was my last chance to put my feet in Lake Huron. The first area I walked to by the parking lot had really icky green stuff on the beach. DO NOT GO THERE! I saw people swimming further north so I drove over there. There was a nice boardwalk with a swampy area with frogs. Saw some cool birds. The north end of the beach was so much better. However, the sand had a lot of broken shells so I don't recommend going barefoot. Since it was about to rain I decided against exploring any trails.
