Bailey School, Michigan, United States

4.5 (20 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Harrisville Points of Interest & Landmarks

A family favorite, year after year.

We love stepping back in time and visiting the Bailey School. If you're a history buff, this place is for you. If the school house is open, there is so much to see and read. The walls are lined with old class photos and other memorabilia. Each desk has a text book from the time period. If you look close, some of the student names in text books match the names on the class photos. It was fun to actually read text books from that time period. Count on spending less than an hour. It's free but they accept donations in a non pushy way. Continue on the path to the lighthouse and Lake Huron. Just be careful because there is poison ivy growing near the path. Stay on the path and you should be fine. You can also walk through the parking lot to continue on to the lighthouse. Love this place!

    A peek
A peek through the window made us wish we had arrived earlier while it was open. The schoolhouse is on the grounds of the Sturgeon Point Lighthouse

    Lovingly restored
A short path from the main trail leads to this beautiful, restored one room schoolhouse. Due to covid, it wasn't open, but we looked in the windows. It looked nice. It still has the bell!
