Great Fun but not worth the price tag
We were worried after seeing reviews about freezing water and are glad we gave it a try. Indoor water ater parks down south do have warmer water. If that's what you're expecting you will be disappointed. This parks water is more of an outside waterparks temperature. The water here varies. The kid area is on the chilly side nothing outrageous. I'd say 78. The pool with the log and hoops was warmer and after coming from the colder pools feels awesome. We started calling it the warm pool. There are 2 hot tubs. One is warmer than the other. One is hidden in a cove. The other you could literally sit in all day and watch you kids at the kidz pool. Theres really temps for everyone. We bought the evening passes 4-8 and 4 hours was plenty of time for us to enjoy everything. There are 3 slides up one set of stairs. And racer alidea behind the warm pool. The surf simulator, kids area with the spalshorn has 2 smaller slides, a kids pool 2 feet deep, and the 2 hot tubs. The lazy river is the smallest lazy river I've even been to. The park overall Isn't too big. You can buy alcohol at the pub and take on deck which was a plus. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The only negative is the price. It's definitely not worth $50. Foing after 4 we paid $40. For us and our son it was 114 for night passes. They need to drop the cost 10 at least. We enjoyed our time but wont be back. There are much better parks that cost less. If the price were lower even 10 we'd be repeat visitors but well stop at another on our way up for vacations.

    Fun park for the kids!
We visited on Saturday 3/7/20 and bought the half day/evening passes for 4 children. Age 11+ is $40 and kids 10 and under were $34/each. My sister and I had to get a chaperone pass $10/ea to be in the waterpark with the kids. We grabbed a table by the food area/surf simulator and just sat while the kids ventured aorund the park. We had initially thought about staying overnight at the hotel but it would have cost us $850 for one night with 6 of us total. We ended up staying nearby in Petoskey at Holiday Inn and it worked out perfect. There is no way I would have paid $850 to stay one night at Avalanche Bay, I was not super impressed....it is very similar to other waterparks like Zehnders in Frankenmuth. My daughter (age 10) was bored in the beginning but ended up enjoying herself and stayed busy. The food and drinks were a little pricey but not too bad. I had a strawberry banana smoothie and that was $5.50. The slushies I believe were $3.50 and a large pizza with 2 toppings was $26.50. I ordered a separate pizza from the Trophy Room because they offer a gluten free cauliflower crust and it took FOREVER to get it. I ordered around 6:40 and did not get it until 8:15pm. Another guy ordered his at 6:15 and got his also at 8:15. If you can, stick to ordering within the park. All in all our kids had fun so I would say it was enjoyable!
