4.5 (235 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Manistee County Golf Courses

Beautiful setting and course

Founded in 1999 in Arcadia, Michigan, the course is built on the bluffs above the shore of Lake Michigan and sits on approximately 245 windswept acres of lakefront property. The course drops 225 feet from its highest point down to the bluff, 180 feet above sea level, and has 3,100 feet of Lake Michigan shore frontage. Arcadia Bluffs resembles a seaside links course, with rolling terrain, and windswept natural fescues throughout. Players will be reminded of their favorite holes at Lahinch and Ballybunion, while enjoying breathtaking views of Lake Michigan from all points on the majestic layout. A Warren Henderson/Rick Smith design, Arcadia Bluffs offers players a golfing experience unlike anything in the United States. In addition to the golf course, Arcadia Bluffs offers world-class lodging. The Lodge at Arcadia Bluffs opened in 2010, and offers 15 well-appointed guest rooms, April through October. The Lodge is available, for private and corporate bookings, the months of November and December as well. Exceptional personal service is the hallmark of The Lodge. The Dining Room at Arcadia Bluffs offers a casual atmosphere, with an upscale feel. Again, personal service is paramount in The Dining Room, and the exceptional cuisine provides a truly unforgettable dining experience, every time out. Dining on the deck is available in the summer season, and offers incredible panoramic views of the golf course and beautiful Lake Michigan. The setting is simply breathtaking. The outside Patio Bar offers a casual setting, with a more relaxed atmosphere and menu. As with the Dining Room and deck, the Patio Bar offers unmatched vistas with world-class service.

    Beautiful setting and course
Beautiful setting and gorgeous course on Lake Michigan! We went the night before to enjoy the sunset dinner and the bagpipe player that happens from Thursday-Sunday evenings. It's too bad they don't offer more tee boxes for women. We hired a caddy and are very glad we did. We never lost a ball. No matter how you play it - it's a 5 hour round.

Great course with a major managerial disappointment
Played there August 29-30th. Wonderful scenic course. Very challenging but fair. We played the Bluffs course twice and the South course once. I enjoyed the South course especially the green complexes. The Bluffs course was also enjoyable. I would not recommend walking the course like we did for the first round. It is a tough walk with lots of elevation changes as well as some significant hikes between the tees. We were unable to get rooms on site so we stayed in Manistee which is about 30 minutes away which was quite doable. The main complaint was that they were very short staffed with the college kids having returned to school. While I realize that everyone is struggling for workers, the situation was dangerous since the terms was mid 80’s and humid and there was NO WATER ON THE COURSE!!!! Every time the caddies would say that there was a Thermos coming up, it’d be empty. The “player assistant” was actually sitting there once to tell us there was no water. Why the heck he didn’t go get some himself? The cart girl eventually came around the 14th hole when we were about to pass out. To me this was poor management. If you know you’re short staffed and it’s hot, give me a cooler filled with water bottles every couple of holes. The round wasn’t cheap but charge me $5-10 if you have to and supply some water. This really detracted from our experience as we got hotter and more dehydrated. The situation was dangerous in view of the heat. Bottom line - a great course deserving of it’s rating with some poor management. We’ve played all over the US and Scotland/Ireland and this course compares favorably. If you had to choose between Arcadia and Whistling Straits, I’d give the nod to Whistling. It has 4 courses compared to 2 and the overall experience was more premium. Just my 2 cents.
