Incredible collection.

Museum of Tarot (in short term, or sometime Museum of Tarot and Oracle, or officially Museum of Tarot and Occult), founded in 2016 (will officially open in 2017), is located in Can Tho City, in the south of Vietnam. The museum has three themes: Tarology, Cartomancy and Occult. The museum has a large variety of objects from 15th century to 21th century. The museum is established in an ancient noble hotel, called “the citron house”, under the Vietnamese renaissance style. This house is sacrificed for the museum by an old couple of lawyer, Anh Ngo and Duong Ho in 2016.

Hidden Gem of a Museum in Can Tho!
I am not particularly well versed in tarot, occult, mysticism, and magic. Visiting this museum I must say was a highlight of our visit to Can Tho. Its a very nice break away from the typical tourist destinations, yet still gives you a nice experience of Vietnam and other nearby regions. The museum is three floors, each containing hundreds, if not thousands of items, these items are unique, rare, limited, and single pieces ranging from early 1500 A.D. (possibly even earlier) to present day. The owner of the museum, Dr. Phillippe Ngo, is very welcoming and gave us a great through walking tour of his museum with a very informative explanation of many of his pieces. Pieces from around the world ranging from early European, Byzantine, early American, and Asian pieces. Of the Asian pieces, I've never seen Indonesian & Vietnamese items like this before and was given a very detailed explanation of how they were used by locals back then. I must also mention, it is not just Tarot Cards and associated items, many religious pieces from the mentioned countries & periods. Admission is free and a donation can be made if you are so inclined to provide for museum operation (totally no pressure from anyone by the way). There is traditional tea service available, small items for sale which also go to museum operations (also no pressure), and tarot readings. We are traveling through Vietnam from New York City and the association with Tarot was always with scamming gypsy fortune tellers, this informative visit really piqued my interest in its history and washed away its typical associations. I highly highly recommend a visit here. We used Google Maps to find our way here and it was accurate all the way.

    Incredible collection.
We stopped by as we had a day free in Can Tho. So glad we did. Such a great collection of items. The curator is very passionate about them and told us the stories of how he managed to get some of the items on display. I never realised how far back playing cards went and seeing how they changed over the years was pretty cool. To get the best experience book in advance if you can, that being said we were made to feel very welcome during our 2hr tour.
