    Nice museum
I took my 7 year old son to this museum after a Google search of things to do in McAllen and was pleasantly surprised. While we were there they had the Grossology exhibit going on and this was a lot of fun. It is a traveling exhibit and is only there for 4 months. This exhibit is geared towards children and has games, activites and animatronics all pertaining to "The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body". My son especially loved the section on mucus as any 7 year old boy would! There is also an huge playscape outside that had a water feature in which you can pump water and turn a wheel to scoop up water and then watch it flow through. There is also a part of the playscape for younger kids. They have two ongoing areas for kids called KidZone. One part is dedicated to art and kids can make and take art pieces. The other part is a science lab that had some reptiles and fish on display as well as a very large sand table that younger kids may enjoy digging in. During our visit they didn't have any kIdZone supervised activites going on but I think they do at certain times, possibly on weekends. There is a whole other part of the museum which has exhibits that an adult would find interesting. We arrived around noon which was perfect because the museum was practically empty. They had just finished up a school tour and when we were leaving 2 hours later another school tour was starting. So, you may want to call ahead and check if there are any tours going on that day....unless you don't mind lots of kids.

    Great valley museum
The valley really doesn't have any museums that can compare to the big city museums but most of them are still a lot of fun. IMAS is one of the nicest. It is the best for art. My wife and i enjoy the art exhibits a lot. they have two or three large exhibits. also they always have a large center exhibit that changes every so often. the best thing about the museum is the events. lots of kids events and art events. i'd suggest checking their website and calender before going. Its a great place
