    cool spot!
Going to see Iao valley you will have to pay per person and vehicle - it was $20 total for my husband and I to see it. The history here is crazy and I never would have known without visiting this site and reading all the details. It's a beautiful spot and we were so excited to finally venture into the west maui mountains on our trip! If you're considering visiting, it is a pretty quick visit and not really a hike- a short 5 minute walk to see the Iao needle, another 3 minute stroll through the garden, and a small 3-5 minute walking trail down by the river. We found an additional trail along the river that went back into the mountains more. It wasn't part of the site, but wanted to throw that out there that we were able to explore more and hike around!

Beautiful site- Didn't take long- Here's some tips!
So beautiful. Steep giagantic mountains on each side of the valley. It's green and lush. The history there is haunting. The place has a reverence you've got to feel. However here are some things to note. It's 10-20 minutes to the top of the stairs and back tops. It's not strenuous at all.... my 3 year old walked it all by himself. I had read about the trail that goes along the river and I think we found where it would start but it wasn't clearly marked and we were on a time schedule so we didn't go there. Also parking attendant at the fee machine went away about 30 minutes before closing so if you just want to do a quick 10in trip to see it consider it close to closing time.
